Training and Education

Training and education play a vital role in preparing for public health emergencies and disasters. By continuously planning and preparing for potential events, we can improve our ability to respond effectively. Some of our training and education activities include practicing the CDHD Emergency Response Plan (ERP), collaborating with regional partners, and participating in community outreach.

CDHD’s Public Health Preparedness Program utilizes training resources from several expert organizations to enhance our ability to respond. Examples of these agencies include:

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
  • Idaho State University – Institute of Emergency Management (IEM)
  • Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP)

Additional Resources

  • Idaho State University Institute of Emergency Management
The purpose of the Institute is to offer workshops, courses, certificates, and degrees to meet the professional and career development needs of Idahoans employed in, or planning a career in Emergency Management.
  • Federal Emergency Management | Emergency Management Institute
FEMA provides many programs, courses, and materials to support emergency preparedness and response for emergency personnel, as well as the general public.
